Recently, at American Idol season 31 of 2023, Katy Perry was accused of mom-shaming a contestant. American Idol contestant called it a hurtful incident.

At the start of this month, an episode aired in which 25-year-old contestant Sara Beth Liebe appeared for the American Idol’s auditions. At that moment, Katy Perry, Lionel Richie’s and Bryan were on the American Idol judges panel.

The group of judges was astonished at Liebe’s age. They thought she might be a 16-year-old little girl. However, it was no less than a shock for them when Liebe turned out to be a mother of three children.

Katy Perry rose in a joking manner and dramatically fell back on the table. At this, Liebe said, “If Katy lays on the table, I think I’m gonna pass out.”

Perry sarcastically replied, “Honey, you’ve been lying on the table too much.” This comment was an utter reflection of the mother shaming and taunting her motherhood.

This incident has evoked backlash on social media, as most people think that perry has “Mom shamed” Liebe.

A few days later, Liebe recorded a video on TikTok and Instagram, mentioning how she felt about this incident. In her video, Liebe added that she finds it “hurtful” and “embarrassing” on Tv.

American Idol contestant, Sarah Beth, said in her video, “It was embarrassing to have that on TV; it was hurtful. I think that women supporting and uplifting other women is so cool, and I think mom shaming is super lame. I think it’s hard enough to be a mom, and it’s hard enough to be a woman.”

People showered their support on Sara Liebe and dropped positive comments on her video by saying that you don’t need to feel crappy about this. Be a good mother, and this is what matters a lot in the end.
