As someone who values efficiency, I never understood the point of putting up holiday lights each year only to take them down a few months later. To add insult to (likely) injury, this involves crawling all over your roof in the worst weather of the year. In between, you need to find room to store the lights and then spend a day untangling them. It's lunacy, and permanent lights, which came to the consumer market a few years ago, are the solution.
Last year I tested nearly all of the smart lights on the market. It was the second year in a row I'd tested Govee lights, and they remained the best choice. Right now, Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights Pro are 32% off for Prime Day, bringing the price from $439.99 to $299.99.
Install them once, and they can remain on your house year round. They have a different profile than standard holiday lights, so it doesn't look like you have string bulbs hanging off your house all the time. Instead, the small profile lights project color against your house. When you want to use them, your phone is your remote control, allowing you to choose color and motion patterns through an app.
What do you think so far?
They're durable, too. Mine stayed up through the worst, wettest winter I can remember, and they still work great.
