Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses get real-time visual AI and translation
Two long-awaited AI features are coming to the Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses as part of an upcoming update.

Meta is rolling out two long-awaited features to its popular Ray-Ban Smart Glasses: real-time visual AI and translation. While it’s just being rolled out for testing right now, the plan is that, eventually, anyone that owns Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses will get a live assistant that can see, hear, and translate Spanish, French, and Italian.
It’s part of the v11 update that cover the upgrades Meta described at its Connect 2024 event, which also include Shazam integration for music recognition. This all happens via the camera, speakers, and microphones built into the Ray-Ban Meta glasses, so you don’t need to hold up your phone.
In my review of Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses, I was pleasantly surprised by the excellent photo quality. The ease of taking photos and recording videos hands-free is great.

To ask about something I was seeing with Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses, I had to precede questions with “look and,” which always felt awkward.
The new live AI adds an intelligent assistant that’s always available to streamline interactions so the answers arrive quicker. Meta’s live AI feature uses video to get a continuous visual feed.
This isn’t a privacy concern because the live AI and live translation features must be enabled in settings and activated to start a continuous listening and watching session. The live features can also be disabled in settings or with a voice command.
The latest features are coming first to Early Access users for testing. Within weeks or months, depending on feedback, Meta will begin rolling out these exciting v11 updates to more Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses owners.

Nvidia’s RTX 5080 may be better than the RTX 5090 in one small way
The launch of Nvidia's next-gen best graphics cards is right around the corner, and we're getting new leaks about the specs almost every day. Today, Benchlife reveals that the RTX 5080 may be the only RTX 50-series GPU to receive 30Gbps memory modules from the get-go. This would give the RTX 5080 a slight advantage, but there's also some conflicting information about the memory configuration for this GPU.
All of Nvidia's next-gen graphics cards are said to use new GDDR7 memory, and yesterday's Zotac leak confirmed that the RTX 5090 will sport 32GB of GDDR7 VRAM. That's a massive upgrade over the previous generation, but the RTX 5080 won't enjoy the same improvements -- the GPU is said to retain both the 16GB memory and the 256-bit bus we've already seen in the RTX 4080 (and its Super version).
We might see a new version of DLSS next month
As the year comes to a close, we're hearing more about what Nvidia might have in store at CES next month. Not only is the company rumored to launch its RTX 50-series GPUs, which could take Nvidia's best graphics cards to the next level, it could also introduce new software features. At least, that's what Nvidia board partner Inno3D is suggesting.
The company, which is an exclusive Nvidia board partner, posted a press release detailing what it will cover at CES next month. In addition to its various GPU models, including the Frostbite range with a "new liquid cooling solution" and the SFF range for small form factor PCs, Inno3D highlighted an AI feature set including "advanced DLSS technology," "improved AI-driven upscaling," and "neural rendering capabilities."
