Adventure Tours UK ‘thrilled’ to become B Corp

Adventure Tours UK has joined the list of travel companies with B Corp status.

The certification recognises a commitment to high social and environmental standards.

Adventure Tours UK co-founder Claire Copeman said: “We are thrilled to finally become BCorp-certified, affirming our passion and dedication to ensuring travel is truly a force for good.”

The active holidays specialist is now among 6,279 B Corps worldwide, including Intrepid Travel and Pura Aventura.

The certification is awarded by non-profit organisation B Lab after considering all of a business’s operations.

As part of the application, a company must give evidence of socially and environmentally responsible practices on energy supplies, waste and water use, worker compensation and diversity and corporate transparency.

Adventure Tours UK has made a legal commitment to purpose beyond profit.

Copeman said: “It’s been a long certification journey and our whole team have been invested in it from the outset.”

She added: “We are proud to share the UK’s wildest spaces with travellers from around the world and have always strived to do this with as positive an impact as possible on the communities and places we visit, while providing a fair and equitable workplace for our team.

“Achieving certification as a B Corp is a globally-recognised mark of our efforts and the beginning of the next stage of our journey as we continue to make travel better for everyone.”

Chris Turner, executive director of B Lab UK, said recognising Adventure Tours UK was an “exciting moment”.

He said: “We are pleased to have B Corps of all shapes and sizes as part of our community – from start-ups to multinationals and across many different industries.

“Business is a powerful force and B Corps demonstrate that you can do good in any sector.

“Welcoming Adventure Tours UK is an exciting moment because they have an opportunity to lead the way within the travel industry.

“We and the rest of the B Corp community are really pleased to support Adventure Tours UK in paving the way for a new way of doing things.”
