Airlines Again Suspend Tel Aviv Flights After Nearby Missile Strike

Multiple U.S. and European airlines again temporarily have canceled flights to and from Israel after a missile fired May 4 by Yemen's Houthi rebels landed near Israel's Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv.

Many carriers had suspended Tel Aviv flights after the Oct. 7, 2023, attack by Hamas, but had resumed service in recent months, including United on March 15 and Delta on April 1.

Delta Air Lines and United Airlines each issued travel exceptions for May 4 through 11 for Tel Aviv flights for tickets issues on or before May 4 for Delta and on or before May 3 for United. American Airlines had not yet resumed service.

Lufthansa Group, which includes the carriers Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Swiss and ITA Airways, has suspended flights through May 6. "Affected guests will be notified and rebooked on alternative flights, subject to availability," according to the Lufthansa website.

Other carriers had canceled flights on Sunday or through Monday, but then planned to resume operations, according to Reuters.
