Atas reveals touring and adventure outpacing other sectors
Bookings continue to rise, research among members shows
Growth in bookings for touring and adventure holidays continues to outpace many other travel sectors, according to figures from the Association of Touring and Adventure Suppliers (Atas).
Its latest trends report, compiled with customer data analyst Radar using data from members for the first half of 2024, shows that booking numbers – based on the year of booking – are 10% up year on year.
Furthermore, the revenues achieved by operators in this period were also up year on year by 12%.
Claire Brighton, Atas director, said: “This sector shows no signs of slowing down or being affected by cost-of-living concerns.
“Bookings are continuing to show strong annual growth rates, with the latest research revealing double-digit growth.
“This is more than many other sectors in travel.
“And revenues continue to rise too, demonstrating the lucrative earning potential for travel agents in this sector.”
The research also revealed the destinations experiencing strong growth – leading the short to mid-haul market are Spain, Portugal, Morocco, and Turkey, while Peru, Japan and Vietnam are leading the way for long-haul destinations.
Brighton said more updates about the sales trends among Atas members will be revealed at the annual Atas conference taking place in Leeds (October 15-16).
