Benjamin Bratt is sure to wow audiences not only with his on-screen performance in Mother of the Bride, but also with his remarkably fit physique.

Speaking with ET's Deidre Behar during the premiere of the Netflix movie at The Bay Theater in Pacific Palisades, California, the 60-year-old actor disclosed the key to his age-defying appearance, which is on full display in the film.

"Well, I always start with the love of a good woman. I was very, very lucky," Bratt, who has been married to Talisa Soto since 2002, remarked when asked about his secret to staying in shape.

But love isn't the only thing keeping him young. "It is because I'm happy, and I'm fulfilled in all the most important ways," he shared. "Beyond that, no, it's the boring stuff. It's the generations today we have no awareness of eating well and actually finding the joy in life. Like making a choice to be happy as opposed to living in misery, which, you know, happens a lot too."

Bratt and Soto, a former Bond girl, married in 2002 and have two children, Sophia, and Mateo.

The actor's dedication to his health and happiness extends beyond just physical fitness. Reflecting on his new film, Bratt found personal resonance in the storyline. In Mother of the Bride, Lana's (Brooke Shields) daughter Emma (Miranda Cosgrove) returns from London and announces that she's getting married next month. Things become more complicated when Lana learns that the man who stole Emma's heart is the son of the man (Bratt) who broke hers years ago.

"I lose my son to college this coming fall, and so the emotions that are being explored in this film, they resonate very clearly with me here tonight," he shared. "And I know Brooke [Shields] too because she has a daughter [Grier] that's about to take off as well."

Discussing impending empty nest syndrome with his wife, Bratt revealed, "We cried together over it. It's really a testament to the love that we have."

He emphasized the importance of family and their enduring love, a theme central to the heart of Mother of the Bride.

On working alongside Shields in the film, Bratt couldn't help but express admiration. "I mean, first of all, it’s Brooke Shields, and she is truly one of the most ravishingly beautiful women in the world and has been for more than 40 years," he praised the 58-year-old actress. "But that said, she's one of the most self-effacing, most self-deprecating people you ever will want to meet."

And as Mother's Day approaches, Bratt shared his family's tradition, telling ET, "We always lead it off with mom gets to sleep in, I orchestrate in the kitchen. It's always homemade pancakes, chicken apple sausage, two cups of coffee. A little flower in a vase on a tray, and she gets to enjoy the entire morning as long as she wants."

Mother of the Bride hits Netflix on Thursday, May 9.
