Charitable Travel unveils ‘Make it Count in 2022’ campaign

Charitable Travel has launched a campaign called ‘Make It Count in 2022’, bringing together the charity and travel sectors to help them recover from the pandemic.

The social enterprise travel retailer is calling for tour operators and destinations to share details of their charity partnerships or CSR [corporate, social and responsible] initiatives, with a view to highlighting some of the amazing work.

Each month Charitable Travel will raise awareness of charities and initiatives, connected to themes such as the environment, education, children or LGBTQ+ causes.

The campaign will celebrate the “unsung heroes” of the travel industry and showcase them in the Charitable Traveller magazine, and its PR, social media and digital channels, including the newly launched ‘The Travel Insider Podcast’ series.

Charitable Travel will also launch an annual ‘Made it Count’ award, the first of which will recognise those travel companies who have continued to generate great results for their charity and CSR partners during the pandemic.

Melissa Tilling (pictured), chief executive of Charitable Travel, said: “The travel industry has a long tradition of supporting charities, but there is often little awareness of the worthwhile causes supported and achievements made.

“Our aim is to establish an interconnected web between the charity community and travel world, not only to amplify the message that travel can be a force for good, but to secure more revenue for both travel companies and charities alike.

“Our two sectors have suffered greatly over the last two years, but we see great potential for connecting consumers with the amazing work that the travel industry does and to make it easier for increasingly benevolent consumers to make more responsible choices and ‘make it count’ when it comes to booking their holiday.”

Charitable Travel, which offers customers the opportunity to donate 5% of the cost of their holiday to a charity of their choice, already provides a platform for connecting travel industry partners with the potential pool of customers who are the supporters of its 180+ charity partners.
