NCL cancels Norwegian Getaway’s summer cruises amid Ukraine crisis
‘We will continue to monitor the situation closely’
Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has cancelled Norwegian Getaway’s summer season following a review into its programme amid Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine.
The line previously said some itineraries on the Breakaway-class vessel would be changed to remove St Petersburg as a port of call.
However, today (March 15) the line said departures from June 14, 2022, to November 27, 2022, had been pulled.

NCL confirmed that it was currently working to confirm new itineraries for the ship. “[We] will share more information very soon,” it added.
Affected agents and passengers will be contacted and offered a full refund as well as a “bonus” Future Cruise Certificate valid for a future voyage.
A NCL spokesperson said: “We appreciate the continued understanding of our loyal guests and travel partners during this trying time.
“We will continue to monitor the situation closely and focus on making the right decision.”
Norwegian Getaway is still scheduled to operate four Baltics departures in May and early June, the line confirmed.
Meanwhile, Norwegian Escape – a Breakaway-plus class vessel – “made contact with the channel bed” as it departed Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic.
The line said that it was “working on a solution to free the ship” which has not been damaged in the incident.
All passengers and crew are safe, added NCL.
