“CODA” continued its hot streak, while “Hacks” and “Maid” received some much-deserved love at the WGA Awards Sunday night. Writer-director Siân Heder won the Adapted Screenplay prize for the former, a coming-of-age story following a teen girl who is the only hearing member in a Deaf family. The pic is based on the French film “La Famille Belier.”

Heder is up for Best Adapted Screenplay at this weekend’s Oscars; “CODA” is also nominated for Best Picture and Best Supporting Actor (Troy Kotsur).

The writers of “Hacks” — including co-creators Lucia Aniello and Jen Statsky — took home the WGA Awards’ Comedy Series and New Series prizes. Starring Jean Smart, who won an Emmy for her leading turn, and Hannah Einbinder, “Hacks” is a dark comedy about a seasoned stand-up who teams up with a millennial writer to revamp her act.

“Maid,” a Netflix miniseries inspired by Stephanie Land’s memoir, “Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay, and a Mother’s Will to Survive,” won the award for Adapted Long Form. Series creator Molly Smith Metzler, Bekah Brunstetter, and Michelle Denise Jackson were among the scribes recognized.

Other WGA Awards recipients include Lisa Hanawalt, who won in the Animation category for the “Planteau” episode of her show “Tuca & Bertie,” and Susan Soon He Stanton, who, along with Tony Roche, took home the Episodic Drama award for the “Succession” installment “Retired Janitors of Idaho.” Stanton was also among the writers honored when “Succession” won the Drama Series competition, as were Francesca Gardiner, Lucy Prebble, and Georgia Pritchett.
