Recently, KMC Oslo organized a well-attended and much-appreciated meditation weekend in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Gen Dragpa, the Resident Teacher at KMC Oslo in Norway, who is also a native Dutch speaker, led the weekend event. Although based in Norway, Gen Dragpa offers a weekly online class and Foundation Program in Dutch for the people in the Netherlands. The weekend was an opportunity to meet and practice together in person and to give new people the chance to meet Kadam Dharma for the first time.
The event took place in the same venue used 30 years ago for one of the very first teachings in the Netherlands. Through Venerable Geshe-la's vision and kindness, Gen-la Thubten visited and gave an excellent course and Avalokiteshvara empowerment.
Now, 30 years later, the weekend began with a public talk on learning to meditate and being kind to yourself. The day course was on concentration as the key to happiness, and the weekend concluded with a one-day retreat on meditations for inner peace. The teachings were given in Dutch and simultaneously translated into English for those needing translation.
The participants enjoyed the practical teachings and meditations in Venerable Geshe-la's excellent presentation of Kadam Dharma. It was a lovely and joyful weekend of connecting, sharing experiences, and feeling part of a Kadampa family.
We are looking forward to our next event in the Netherlands, and you are all warmly invited to attend if you can!
