Eurowings to start Newcastle-Berlin services next May
Twice-weekly flights will complement link to Düsseldorf
Budget carrier Eurowings will launch a direct service from Newcastle to Berlin from May 1, 2025.
The Lufthansa Group airline will offer flights every Thursday and Sunday.
Eurowings already serves the northeast of England with year-round flights to Düsseldorf and recently celebrated 10 years of flying from Newcastle airport.
The airline said the new service will be the only regular, direct flight to Berlin from the northeast and Yorkshire regions.
Leon McQuaid, aviation development director at Newcastle airport, said: “We are delighted to see further investment from Eurowings with new flights to Berlin next summer, complementing the airline’s existing route to Düsseldorf.
“Berlin has always been a popular destination for the northeast travelling public and we have received lots of customer feedback asking for a direct service – so it is fantastic Eurowings is launching this new service next summer.”
Reinald Frankewitz, head of airport and network relations at Eurowings, added: “The new connection between Newcastle and Berlin is a real gain for both airports and their passengers.
“The German capital with its eventful history and urban present is an exciting destination.”
