November is the height of the new video release season, but amid all the new full-price games are batches of new stuff to play on PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass. We’ve rounded up all the new games both companies are adding to their paid subscription services so far in November.

Starting with Sony’s PlayStation Plus Essentials, November sees three new games cycle in as monthly freebies. The highlight is easily Nioh 2, a difficult action RPG inspired by Ninja Gaiden and Dark Souls. Set in a mythical version of feudal Japan, players create their own samurai warrior and test their sword skills against enemy samurai and demonic Yokai, collecting heaps of loot along the way. While the game is hard, the robust online co-op modes let players team up to take on Nioh 2’s many missions.
If you’re looking for something less demanding, this month also features the action-adventure LEGO Harry Potter Collection and the space-themed puzzle game Heavenly Bodies. As always, these games are available to all PlayStation Plus subscription plans. You can add them to your library at any time throughout the month, and they remain playable as long as you’re subscribed to PlayStation Plus.

Sony announced additions to the PS Plus Games Catalog (PS Plus Extra and Premium) and Classics Collection (PS Plus Premium) separately from the monthly PS Plus Essentials, so any new games coming to those services will likely be announced later in the month. Keep your eyes on the official PlayStation Blog for more info.
What’s leaving PS Plus in November
So far, the only games we know are leaving PS Plus are last month’s PS Plus Essentials freebies. It is possible games could leave the Games Catalog or Classics Collection, but we won’t know until later in the month.

Xbox players have a lot to look forward to this month. The November 2022 Games With Gold free games include the historical real-time strategy game Praetorians HD Remaster starting Nov. 1, and the comedic ghost-hunting indie game Dead End Job will unlock on Nov. 16. Games With Gold offerings are included with Game Pass and Xbox Live Gold subscriptions but are only available for a limited time.
As for the new Game Pass library addition, the long-awaited Metroidvania platformer Ghost Song joins the service on its Nov. 3 launch day. Similarly, the medieval-themed RPG Pentiment from beloved developer Obsidian Games joins on Nov. 15, and the co-op looter-shooter Warhammer 40K: Darktide arrives on Nov. 30—though there’s plenty more confirmed to join the service between those releases, and there’s always a chance more could be announced.
