Family of Tui pilots fly together for first time to celebrate 100 years in the sky

A family of pilots with 100 years of flying experience between them have flown all together for the first time.

Henry Brewis, his wife Hayley and his brother Tom all sat in the cockpit throughout a flight from Birmingham to Cancun to celebrate International Families Day.

While Henry and Hayley fly together regularly, the three Tui captains had never flown as a trio before, but said it was a “privilege” to be together for the nine-hour service.

Henry and his brother both have 37 years’ experience as Tui pilots while Hayley has 26.

Henry said the flight was particularly special for him as it was the first time he and Hayley have flown together since she recovered from breast cancer.

“It’s just so great to be back in an aircraft and taking customers to and from their holidays,” said Hayley.

“It’s always special when I get to fly with Henry. We usually make an announcement over the loudspeaker and customers always have lots of questions about what it’s like working together and who is really in charge.”

“My wife Hayley is truly an inspiration,” said Henry. “It’s a big celebration to be back in the cockpit with her once again and cancer free. As soon as she was cleared, she was eager to get back into flying once again.”

He continued: “With 100 years of flying experience between us at Tui, it seemed fitting to celebrate this milestone together 35,000 feet in the air.”

Tom added: “It was a great privilege to fly with my brother again after a gap of many years, and a first to fly with Hayley. Flying with them both was very special and one of the highlights of my career.”
