Stalter in "Hacks": Karen Ballard/HBO Max

Best known for her role as a talent agent’s incompetent assistant on “Hacks,” Megan Stalter is set to step out of the office and into the limelight in “Cora Bora,” Hannah Pearl Utt’s third feature. The dark comedy will mark Stalter’s first starring role.

According to Deadline, the indie tells the story of Cora (Stalter), “who senses her open relationship is on the rocks. When the struggling musician and messy millennial goes home to Portland to win her girlfriend back, she realizes it’s much more than her love life that needs salvaging.”

Rhianon Jones penned the script.

Utt’s last feature, “Before You Know It,” premiered at Sundance 2019. She made her feature debut with 2016’s “Disengaged.”

Stalter reprises her role as Kayla on Season 2 of “Hacks,” which launched yesterday on HBO Max. The comedian’s upcoming slate includes Peacock’s “Queer as Folk” reboot and Rachel Lambert’s “Sometimes I Think About Dying.” an indie drama led by Daisy Ridley.
