Lily James is receiving raves for her portrayal of Pamela Anderson in “Pam & Tommy,” Hulu’s miniseries inspired by the “Baywatch” star’s headline-making romance with Mötley Crüe’s Tommy Lee and their stolen sex tape, but Anderson has let it be known that she’ll “never, never watch” the project. It turns out that she plans to tell her own story. Via social media, the actress announced that she has a Netflix doc on the way. “My life/ A thousand imperfections/ A million misperceptions/ Wicked, wild and lost/ Nothing to live up to /I can only surprise you /Not a victim, but a survivor /And alive to tell the real story,” she emphasized in a handwritten note.
In the making for several years, the film is described as the “definitive documentary about the pop culture icon,” and will feature “exclusive access to Anderson, as well as archival footage and her personal journals,” per Variety. The as-yet untitled doc’s logline promises “an intimate portrait embedded in the life of Pamela Anderson as she looks back at her professional and personal path and prepares for the next steps on her journey.”
Ryan White, a two-time Emmy nominee whose credits include “Visible: Out on Television,” “Ask Dr. Ruth,” and “The Keepers,” is directing.
Besides her star-making turn in “Baywatch,” Anderson’s credits include “Barb Wire” and “V.I.P.”
