Ship review: Seven Seas Grandeur
Explore the newest ship from Regent Seven Seas Cruises and get a taste of ‘six-star’ luxury
From fine dining to the first Fabergé egg at sea – what to expect on Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ new ultra-luxury ship, Seven Seas Grandeur
Overview: The newest ship in Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ fleet, the 744-capacity Seven Seas Grandeur, was launched in December 2023. Regent prides itself on being the ‘world’s most luxurious cruise line’, with Grandeur offering a 1.36 staff-to-guest ratio.
Just about everything is included, from flights and transfers to Wi-Fi, shore excursions and valet laundry. The ship spends winters in Miami, cruising to the Caribbean and Central America, and will be sailing in the Mediterranean, Nordics and British Isles next summer.
Cabins: Grandeur’s 375 suites range from a 28sq m Veranda Suite to the sprawling 413sq m Regent Suite. All include a walk-in wardrobe, rainfall shower, L’Occitane toiletries, separate sitting area and a spacious balcony.
Highlights of my Deluxe Veranda Suite included a generous queen-sized bed, a bottle of Monopole champagne and a personalised minibar. Higher categories feature baths, king-sized beds and wraparound balconies, while the Regent Suite offers an in-room spa.
Food and drink: Grandeur’s seven restaurants range from a casual poolside grill to three fine-dining outlets (French-themed Chartreuse, pan-Asian Pacific Rim – pictured above – and the Prime 7 steakhouse). Speciality dining is included but requires a reservation, while main restaurant Compass Rose (pictured below) offers a delicious degustation menu.
Cocktails, wines and beers can be sourced from most outlets and via room service, but the most creative menus – think pepper-laced Jack Daniels or lychee martinis – can be found in the Meridian, Grandeur and Observation lounges.
Facilities: On the ship’s entrance deck, there’s a glitzy casino, the lively Grandeur Lounge and two boutiques stocking designer accessories and toiletries. The Constellation Theatre hosts an array of shows, from variety to comedy.
Wellness lovers will adore the spa, where treatments include a couples’ Mediterranean wrap – though passengers can simply enjoy unlimited access to the hot tubs, sauna and steam rooms. The gym stretches across the aft, while there’s a pool with plentiful sunloungers and two soaking tubs. Padel tennis, bocce ball and mini-golf are available on the sports deck.
USP: Sarah Fabergé is the ship’s godmother, so Regent commissioned a Fabergé egg, Journey in Jewels, especially for Grandeur – the only Fabergé egg to be on permanent display at sea. See it beside the main reception, before admiring the rest of the ship’s 1,600-piece art collection.
Another USP is 24-hour room service being included in the cruise fare, meaning that cocktails, snacks and more can be ordered at all hours of the day.
Book it: A 14-night Lands of the North cruise departing Southampton on June 23, 2025, sailing to Reykjavik via Greenland starts at £12,469 per person for a Veranda Suite. The price includes all food and drink (with premium wines and spirits), spa access, shore excursions, gratuities, valet laundry, Wi-Fi and more.
