Singapore Airlines to Buy 1K Metric Tons of SAF

Singapore Airlines has agreed to purchase 1,000 metric tons of neat sustainable aviation fuel from Neste, the carrier announced Monday. Singapore and its Scoot subsidiary will be the first carriers to receive SAF produced at Neste's Singapore refinery at Changi Airport, according to the carrier. The value of the deal was not disclosed.

Neste will blend the SAF with conventional jet fuel and deliver it to Changi's fuel hydrant system in two batches—during the second quarter and fourth quarter of 2024, according to Singapore.

Starting this month, Singapore will offer 1,000 SAF book-and-claim units for purchase by its corporate travelers, shippers and freight forwarders, according to the airline. Each book-and-claim unit represents one metric ton of neat SAF and its associated carbon dioxide reduction benefits.
