Stitchopia revived with trade sales by Leger Shearings
Crafting holidays brand to sell via agents
Crafting holidays brand Stitchopia has been revived by Leger Shearings Group.
Acquired with a deal for the assets of Arena Travel, which went into administration in 2022, all Stitchopia holidays are commissionable to travel agents and are Abta and Atol protected.
Stitchtopia offers small group craft holidays, with a maximum of 18 holidaymakers, designed and led by crafting experts, including Hazel Tindall, the world’s fastest knitter.
Each holiday includes workshops where crafters can learn more techniques, try them out, improve their skills, and work on their own creative project.
Crafts included are knitting, crochet, patchwork and quilting, embroidery and textiles.
There are UK, European and worldwide holidays in the range, with opportunities to discover more about the crafting heritage and techniques of the destination on selected tours.
Accommodation is mostly four-star quality, in central locations, with wellness facilities. There are also breaks combining crafting with wellness activities, such as yoga and Pilates.
Head of retail sales Ashley Dellow said: “Stitchtopia is the UK’s number one tour operator for craft holidays and, like all Leger Holidays and Shearings tours, they’re fully escorted with a tour manager, from start to finish.
“The holidays offer the chance to join a small group of like-minded others, take part in fantastic projects and workshops, share new experiences, and learn techniques from the very best. The collection covers knitting, crochet, patchwork and quilting, embroidery, and textiles, with tours ranging from a beginners’ crochet weekend in the UK, to a 14-day ‘Textile Sensations of South Korea’ tour accompanied by award-winning textile artist Janice Gunner.
“Crafting has had a huge upsurge in popularity, and even celebrities like Ryan Gosling, Sarah Jessica Parker and Tom Daly are knitting fans.
“Pro-active travel agents would do well to raise awareness of Stitchtopia’s tours with local craft groups.”
