Threads Users Can Now Add up to 20 Photos and Videos per Post
Now you can add more visual context to your Threads updates.
Threads is following Instagram’s lead, with Threads users now able to add up to 20 photos or videos to a carousel in a single Threads update.
That’s one of the more annoying announcement formats that I’ve seen, but it is effective in highlighting what exactly has been updated, and how you can use the expanded carousel option.
As noted, Instagram expanded its carousel posts to 20 frames last month, and as such, it’s not a huge surprise to see Threads do the same.
Though they’re not quite carousels, at least in the same way. Carousels on Threads are just multiple images added to an update, not a specific format as such. But the effect is the same, and having the capacity to add up to 20 images and/or videos is significant, and will expand your Threads posting options.
It’ll also make it easier to cross-post from IG, which may be the bigger reason for the update. Threads obviously wants as much content flowing through its servers as possible, and encouraging IG cross-posting is one way to do this. So maybe, facilitating similar formats across both apps will further encourage this, and get even more people posting even more data in the Threads app.
New considerations for your Threads approach, and new opportunities for engagement. The update is now available in the latest version of the app.
