Trailer Watch: Julia Ducournau Returns to Cannes with “Titane”

"Titane"

Julia Ducournau’s first feature, cannibal coming-of-age story “Raw,” caused audience members on the festival circuit to pass out. Her follow-up looks like it could be similarly intense. A trailer has arrived for “Titane,” and while it provides nothing in the way of plot details, the spot features some wild imagery of fistfights, flames, cages, and a stabbing.

Rather than providing a synopsis for the film, Neon, the studio behind “Titane,” offers a definition for its title: “A metal highly resistant to heat and corrosion, with high tensile strength alloys, often used in medical prostheses due to its pronounced biocompatibility.”

Like “Raw,” “Titane” will make its world premiere at Cannes Film Festival. It is one of just four titles directed by women screening in Competition at this year’s fest, which is slated to take place in-person July 6-17.
