If you’re reading this, you’ve probably already watched the first episode of HBO’s new post-apocalyptic fungal zombie drama show The Last Of Us, which premiered on Jan. 15. You probably also already know the show is based on a hugely popular video game released for the PlayStation 3 back in 2013. But if you have yet to play the game, perhaps you didn’t know how cheap it is right now.
But first, a note on the different versions floating around. The PlayStation 3 original was remastered and adapted for the PlayStation 4 a year later, in 2014. A sequel, The Last of Us, Part II, was released for PlayStation 4 in June 2020. And recently, a remake of the 2013 game was released for the PlayStation 5 this past summer, retitled The Last of Us, Part I.
The good news is that all these games are available for you to play right now, though they’re not all “cheap,” especially if you don’t already own a PlayStation. (At least until March 3, when the PC version will be released.) If you want to play along as you watch the show, here are the best deals you can find on the various versions of the video game right now.
Where to buy The Last of Us for PS3
You can only play the original version of the game if you still have your PlayStation 3 lying around. But if you do, it’s one of the cheapest ways to experience it: You can find it used for around $10 on most websites that sell pre-owned games, including Amazon and eBay, or possibly for less at your local game shop (the benefits of waiting 10 years to buy a game that sold millions of copies).

Where to buy The Last of Us (Remastered) on PS4
The PlayStation 4 version of the game is also pretty reasonable. You can pick it up used for around $6 via Google Shopping, but it’ll likely be through a random third party website. If you rather play it safe, you can get it new:
GameStop is selling the “PlayStation Hits” edition for $18 (shipping is $8 unless you spend at least $59, or you can pick it up in the store). Amazon: A copy from Amazon will also cost you around $26 after shipping.PlayStation Store: You can also buy directly from the PlayStation store for $20. (If you are a PS Plus subscriber for the PS5, the game is already included in the PlayStation Plus Collection.)Where to buy The Last of Us Part II
If you want to spoil yourself for season two of the show, Google Shopping will again offer you the lowest prices (about $9). If you want something more reputable, here are your options:
GameStop is selling used copies for $24.99 plus shipping, or hit up a local store.Amazon has this one for $22 after shipping, available from multiple sellers.eBay also has plenty of cheap options, like this one for $8 after shipping (just check the seller’s reviews first).Where to buy The Last of Us Part I on PS5
Since this is the latest game and a recent release, it’s still pretty much full price everywhere. At this point, you might as well wait for a sale.
