My jean jacket is dark blue, cropped, fitted, with 7/8 length sleeves. Bought in 2000, so 22 years now. When it was brand new, a colleague saw it and spontaneously said “That’s a childrens jacket with long sleeves!” (I guess cropped jackets were a new thing then; mine’s bought abroad.)

I have the Levi’s “Trucker” jacket and I am not at all fond of trucking, unless the Grateful Dead are involved.

Me too! I love mine so much.

I saw something a while ago that said that jean jackets are out of style but I’ve been alive just long enough to know that will never be true.

I (still) have a black denim moto jacket I found at French Connection in like 2001 and ended up throwing over my dress when it started raining at our wedding years and years later. After the ceremony and before the reception we all walked together to a pub, because my grandfather had given me a few quid just before he died to buy myself a pint on my wedding day, and when I stepped in the bartender said, “We’d have played Madonna if we’d known!”

Bahaha, just recently bought myself a chore jacket and this couldn’t be more accurate.

So timely! My 14-year old daughter has just discovered her dad’s jean jacket from middle/high school (late 70s …. not sure why he’s kept it around), which falls into the first category. It’s a bit big and a bit frayed with a few motor oil stains, but very cool!

My favorite jean jacket is a men’s jean jacket that I bought at Goodwill for my husband for a halloween costume. It’s oversized and can fit over a sweater which is an issue I have with smaller jean jackets.

At my high school, in the 70’s, EVERYONE either had or wanted to have a Levi’s Jean jacket. My poor parents excitedly gave me a jean jacket… it was a dorky, fake-denim looking Wrangler jean jacket… I wore it as seldom as I could and was so disappointed… I still love the look of a good Jean jacket…

Has anyone else seen the movie Nope? My first association with Jean Jacket was…kind of weird, LOL

I bought my jean jacket around the end of college – 2006/2006 – from the Gap. It’s fitted, cropped, no collar, and it’s perfect. The elbows are starting to wear and I’ll patch them when they do. I can’t think of another item of clothing I’ve had as long and worn as regularly.

I’ve been rocking my Gap jean jacket from around that year since then, too! Different style (has a color, faded denim, slightly distressed) but the cut/shape still works for me, so it persists!

Bought a Gap jean jacket about the same time, which somehow was lost in a move. I mourn that perfectly broken in and comfy jacket more than the furniture the movers also lost.

Was still sporting my Gap jean jacket that I bought in the 80s untill just recently. Gave it to my niece and nephew. Do I have regrets? Definitely. Would I do it again? Also yes.

I’m a floral chore jacket for sure

Great minds – I came here to make that exact comment 😆 (I currently do not own a jean jacket but will look for one for next spring. Very, very pregnant atm. so no way I’ll be squeezing my walrus-like body into anything but a light, loose cotton dress, and perhaps underwear if I’m leaving the house 🥸 Midwife recommends compression socks with that look, like it was some kind of chic accessory … We’re at day 72848383801828 of a heatwave and I haven’t been able to reach my toes for many weeks. End of rant. Yes, I’m very excited to meet baby soon!

Anyone have a good Jean jacket rec for plus size women? Jean jackets are somewhat of a trigger piece for those of us who didn’t fit into the mall availability in middle school. I’m too nervous to even try them on in store….

My wife found one she loves in the Levi’s mens “big and tall” section. Note “big” and “tall” are different fits. I think it’s the “big” ones that are more generous in the waist band circumference so she can button that bottom button around her hips.

The men’s section of vintage stores!! The size diversity is way way better and I honestly think men’s clothing is often higher quality and lasts longer.

Please. don’t give up if you want a jean jacket.

Bought my classic jean jacket large size (might be man size) at a thrift store. Paint on sleeve and all, some years it closes well. othrr years not so much. I adore no matter whst I weigh, the arms fit.

I have the Levi’s Trucker jacket and really like it.

Love this!

My niece and nephew seldom argue, so my sister was surprised to find them both in tears recently over who got to wear the 80s Gap jean jacket she’d thrifted to school. The issue was short lived! I pulled my out of my closet, washed it, and shipped it to them, and now they each have one.

Bummer for me, though–I was still wearing it on the reg, and now I have to break in a new one!
