If you’re planning to buy one of the best graphics cards, why not also get yourself a new game in the process? Nvidia’s got your back where that’s concerned. The company just announced a new DOOM: The Dark Ages bundle that gives you the game for free when buying one of Nvidia’s latest GPUs. This means $99 in savings.
Starting now and until May 21, if you buy one of Nvidia’s RTX 50-series graphics cards or a laptop equipped with one of those GPUs, you’re getting the Premium Edition of DOOM: The Dark Ages for free. The Premium Edition costs nearly $100, which means neat savings if you were planning to play that game anyway (and a cool free game to check out if you weren’t).
The GPUs that qualify for the promotion include the RTX 5090, RTX 5080, RTX 5070 Ti, and the RTX 5070 — both the desktop and laptop versions apply here. Considering that the RTX 5070 has a MSRP (recommended list price) of $550, getting a $100 game on top of that seems like a good deal. Of course, actually finding any of these things at MSRP is currently a challenge.
Nvidia/Asus/Bethesda SoftworksSnagging the Premium Edition of DOOM also gets you some in-game benefits. You’ll get the digital artbook and soundtrack, a Divinity skin pack, and early access to the game, letting you play two days before the official launch.
The bundles should start appearing at various retailers worldwide, so check out Nvidia’s website to find out where to score that special GPU and game deal while the promotion lasts. Game bundles are nothing new, but this one comes unexpected, as given the current market condition, I didn’t think Nvidia (or AMD) would need to start offering incentives for people to buy its GPUs. Still, the partnership with Bethesda Softworks is a welcome sight, even if the GPUs will likely sell out very quickly.
Aside from the above bundle, Nvidia and Bethesda also released a special RTX 5080 with a DOOM-themed shroud. Made by Asus, the ROG Astral RTX 5080 DOOM Edition is one of a kind, and it can be pre-ordered as part of a bundle that costs $1,999. This contains the GPU, the game, a t-shirt, a huge mouse pad, and a yellow keycard replica.

Nvidia's getting ready to expand its list of the best graphics cards soon, and thanks to leakers, we now have a rumored date for when these new GPUs might hit the shelves. The date is not the part that excites me the most, though. According to the leak, Nvidia will require that its add-in channel (AIC) partners will have to offer at least one model at the recommended list price (MSRP) -- something we desperately need right now. But how long will it last?
The scoop comes from HKEPC, a Hong Kong-based publication. According to HKEPC, Nvidia revealed the release dates for the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB, RTX 5060 Ti 8GB, and the RTX 5060 (which will likely come with 8GB VRAM, although some sources say 12GB). Keep in mind that the following is still a rumor until Nvidia itself confirms otherwise, which, by the sound of it, won't happen for a while.
Nvidia RTX 50 series owners can unlock free GDDR7 memory speed boost
Popular graphics card monitoring and overclocking tool, MSI Afterburner, has received a beta update enabling owners of Nvidia’s RTX 50-series GPUs to boost their GDDR7 memory speeds by up to 10%. This enhancement allows data transfer rates to reach up to 36 gigatransfers per second (GT/s), surpassing Nvidia's standard specifications.
The RTX 50-series graphics cards are equipped with GDDR7 memory modules rated between 28GT/s and 32GT/s. However, Nvidia often sets default data transfer rates slightly lower, at 28GT/s for most models and 30GT/s for the RTX 5080, to ensure stability and longevity. The new update to MSI Afterburner unlocks the potential to exceed these factory settings, offering enthusiasts the opportunity to maximize their hardware's performance.
Best graphics cards you can actually buy right now
If you've taken even a cursory glance at the graphics card market lately, you've probably put your head your hands in despair. It's rough out there right now, with Nvidia's new RTX 50-series cards impossible to find and outrageously overpriced on second hand markets, and it's last-generation RTX 40-series all but sold out and no-longer in production. AMD's best alternatives are likewise absent while we await the impending launch of the RX 9070 and 9070 XT -- and we have everything crossed they'll be available in good quantities.
But if your PC just died or you don't want to be an early adopter of a new GPU that could melt your power connectors, what are you supposed to do? While second-hand cards are always an option, it's a tricky one to recommend since you never know what those cards were used for, or even if you're actually buying a box trying to lure in scalper bots.
