A couple weeks ago, Freddie and I went to our friend Adam’s house for dinner…
Adam made delicious pasta with beans and tomatoes.
We drank wine and chatted about movies and books and kids.
And Adam’s dog Winston looked very sweet among the chaos.
But the best part? After we finished dinner, Adam pulled warm chocolate chip cookies out of the oven!!! “I make this dough the day before,” he told me. “Then I scoop spoonfuls onto a parchment-lined sheet, flatten them, sprinkle with sea salt, and keep in the fridge overnight. While I’m serving dinner, I pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees and pop them in. After about 15 minutes, I take them out and serve them warm.”
How delicious is that? Freshly baked cookies felt so special, like we were little kids again. “You just eat them and feel happy,” says Adam, and he’s absolutely right.
What do you like to serve for dessert? Any favorite cookie recipes? Also, Adam and I will be talking on stage about his wonderful new novel, Food Person, on May 20th at the Brooklyn Public Library — please join us!
P.S. Three strategic starters for a dinner party, the best host gift, and a funny conversation starter.
