Amy Berg’s latest project, “Phoenix Rising,” debuted on HBO last month. The documentary miniseries sees “Westworld” actress Evan Rachel Wood revisiting the emotional, physical, and sexual abuse she endured during her relationship with Marilyn Manson, and chronicles her fight for legislation that that extends the statute of limitations for domestic violence cases in California. The doc touches on how Manson groomed Wood when she was a teenager, a topic that Berg will delve deeper into in her next docuseries, “Dear Pony: Keep This Between Us,” which was recently ordered by Freeform. Deadline confirmed the news.
A four-part series, “Dear Pony: Keep This Between Us” follows “one woman’s journey as she reexamines her past relationship with a trusted teacher. The series exposes an epidemic of widespread grooming in U.S. high schools,” the source details.
Berg received an Oscar nod in 2007 for “Deliver Us From Evil,” an investigation into how the Catholic church tried to cover up the crimes of a predatory priest. Her other credits include “West of Memphis,” “An Open Secret,” and “Janis: Little Girl Blue.”
