Apple’s M4 iMac brings next-gen power to your desktop
Apple has updated the iMac to come with a powerful M4 chip, bringing its all-in-one desktop computer up to speed ahead of more announcements this week.
Apple has brought its M4 chip to the iMac, making it the first Mac to get Apple’s latest silicon chip. The update sees new colors and a significant performance improvement for the all-in-one desktop computer, coming a year after it received the previous-generation M3 chip.
It comes at the beginning of a week of product releases from Apple, with the company previously teasing that it had much more to reveal in the coming days. The updates could see the entire Mac lineup receive some variant of the M4 chip (including more powerful M4 Pro, M4 Max and M4 Ultra editions) over the coming months.
Other than the internal chip, Apple has added colors to the product, and it now comes in green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue, and silver. Apple has added Thunderbolt 4 connectivity, a 12MP front-facing camera that works with Center Stage, plus a nano texture option for the display that reduces reflections.
Elsewhere, the iMac retains the same chassis design as the previous version, as well as the same display resolution. There have been rumors that Apple is working on an iMac with a larger screen, but that was absent from Apple’s announcement.
However, while the iMac itself remains largely unchanged on the outside, Apple has brought out new versions of its accessories, including the Magic Keyboard, Magic Trackpad and Magic Mouse. These focus on adding USB-C connectivity to the peripherals, in line with European Union regulations.
Apple is expected to update the MacBook Pro and Mac mini later this week. The MacBook Pro was heavily leaked throughout October, with various unboxing videos revealing new colors, ports and internal specs.
The Mac mini, meanwhile, is predicted to get one of the most significant redesigns in its history, with a much smaller chassis seeing it occupy about as much space as an Apple TV box. According to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, the Mac mini could be “the most impressive Mac yet to use Apple’s in-house silicon because of the combination of its size and power.”
Although the updated iMac has not received the all-encompassing rework that the MacBook Pro and Mac mini are likely to get, its new chip adds a dose of much-needed power to the desktop machine. Now that Apple has kicked off its week of Mac announcements, keep your eyes peeled for more over the coming days.

These M4 MacBook Pro leaks are getting insane, and I don’t know what to believe anymore
Apple has yet to announce an October Mac event, but leaks for the M4 MacBook Pro continue to circulate. A new tweet from Apple leaker ShrimpApplePro and a new Russian unboxing video have been spotted by Tom's Hardware, giving this possibly true and definitely unprecedented Apple leak more steam. The tweet claims a seller on a private Facebook group has 200 units of the M4 MacBook Pro for sale, adding: "This is probably the biggest warehouse leakage I've ever seen."

A YouTuber with 11 million subscribers just unboxed the M4 MacBook Pro
Leaks of the yet-to-be-announced M4 MacBook Pro have been getting weirder and weirder lately. First, it was up for sale on Facebook. And now, as spotted by MacRumors, there seems to be an entire unboxing video of it on YouTube.
Weirder yet, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman retweeted the Russian YouTuber Wylsacom's video with the comment: "Unconfirmed but looks fairly legitimate." This isn't some unknown YouTube channel, either. He currently sits at 11.3 million subscribers.
I’m worried Apple will skip its October event – here’s what that means for the M4 MacBook Pro
For months now, we’ve been hearing that Apple is set to announce a boatload of new products -- including the M4 MacBook Pro range, fresh iPads, and more -- at an event this October. Yet a new report suggests that things might not be quite so simple after all.
In his latest Power On newsletter, Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman says that Apple is set to reveal these new products “around the end of October,” with the devices going on sale on Friday, November 1. So far, so expected.
