Credit: The Chimaera ProjectThe Chimaera Project, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering women and non-binary filmmakers, has announced the Call for Entries for its 2022 TO.GET.HER film production finishing funds program. TO.GET.HER will award U.S.-based directors who identify as women and/or non-binary up to $6,000 for selected feature projects and $2,500 for selected short projects. The program organizers are “casting a net for a wide range of films – including documentaries, drama, action, horror, and sci-fi,” according to a press release.
“Getting finishing funds to complete a film project can sometimes seem like that final unsurmountable hill to climb to achieve a filmmaker’s dream,” stated Chimaera Project founders Shana Betz, Cheryl Bookout, and America Young. “TO.GET.HER is a program we are extremely proud of as it offers real assistance to artists to finish their projects, move forward in their careers, and bottom line – make films.”
Applications for TO.GET.HER must include a budget, an explanation of how the applicant will use the finishing funds, and an anticipated film completion date. The application must also note the number of women and non-binary people working as cast and crew. Eligible projects must have completed 90 percent of principal photography, and a rough cut must be shared via a secure link at the time of application.
TO.GET.HER applications can be submitted via FilmFreeway. There are submission fees but Chimaera Project alumni can contact tcpfilmsubmissions@gmail.com to request a waiver code. For features, the regular deadline is May 15 ($25 fee) and the extended deadline is June 15 ($30 fee). For shorts, the regular deadline is May 15 ($20 fee) and the extended deadline is June 15 ($25 fee).
