Audley Travel adds indigenous and cultural experiences

Audley Travel has added indigenous and cultural experiences, as well as new wildlife viewing options to its 2023 programme.

The tailormade specialist has introduced a three-day wolf-focused indigenous experience in British Columbia, Canada, as part of its focus on Indigenous Canadian culture.

Clients will camp for two nights in the traditional territory of the Tlatlasikwala First Nation in British Columbia and travel with indigenous guides, looking for wolves by boat and on land. It can be booked on selected dates as part of a tailormade trip to Canada.

A nine-day tailormade trip to Canada, including two nights on the wolf tour as well as two nights in Port Hardy and three nights in Vancouver, costs from £5,280.

The operator has also introduced a stay at Ine, a coastal village in Kyoto-by-the-Sea.

Ine is made up of 230 funaya boathouses built along the bay, with 20 converted into accommodation for visitors.

Clients stay for a minimum of two nights and activities include taking a sea taxi, learning about the history of the village.

A 12-day tailormade trip to Japan, including two nights in Kyoto-by-the-Sea as well as time in Kyoto, Kanazawa and Tokyo, costs from £6,400.

Also new for Audley is The Bush Camp in Chiang Mai, Thailand – a sister property to Elephant Hills in Khao Sak.

The Bush Camp offers accommodation in a tented camp powered by solar panels.

Audley’s clients stay for one night, visiting the free roaming and chain-free elephant park, and learning about the local Karen village families.

A 15-day tailormade trip to Thailand, including a night at The Bush Camp as well as time in Bangkok, Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Pai and Khao Yai National Park, costs from £4,950,

The prices are based on two sharing and include flights, transfers, accommodation and excursions.

Audley is also adding more properties with a focus on sustainability, including the Avana Retreat, northern Vietnam; Loapi safari camp, Tswala, South Africa; and Montemar Eco Luxury Villas, Galapagos.
