I love this, Wendy. My partner and I are pregnant for the first time after a years-long fertility journey (thanks, IVF!) and I love having this to look forward to.
Yes! I’ve often thought, “thank goodness my sexy roommate loves talking about my kids so much!” hahaha
Similarly, mutual adoration of my kids has given my dad and me a common topic. Our relationship wasn’t fraught, but we did struggle to find something to connect over. But HE’s the one who overshares kid photos and stories, so now we always have something to discuss! And when we run out of that, we can fall back to discussing my nieces :)
One thing that I didn’t realize before I had kids was how nice it is to share them with your partner. You both love that kid so much and know them so well. I’m always telling soon-to-be parents about that unexpected perk/closeness. I don’t think it’s talked about enough!
