Business travel agency Altour recruits three as part of Scottish expansion

Altour UK, a division of Internova Travel Group, has unveiled plans to focus on expansion in the Scottish market over the next 12 months.

The move follows its 2021 merger with sister company Barrhead Business Travel – Barrhead Travel’s former standalone corporate travel division.

Over the past two years, the Scottish team has been working on a brand transition and will now be known as Altour Scotland.

Three full-time consultants have been added to the team as the business travel market has recovered from the pandemic.

The agency has also joined the Scottish Passenger Agents’ Association (SPAA) to support with networking and partnership opportunities for its Scottish team, led by recently promoted team leader Jen Doig.

Altour said expenditure and transactions have doubled in the last 12 months, and the group expects to outperform 2019 by the end of this year.

Maria Baty (pictured), managing director of Altour UK, said: “Following our merger with Barrhead Business Travel, we always planned to initiate an expansion plan north of the border.

“Our Scottish team have excellent relations with their clients, having nurtured their accounts for many years and their stellar reputation will stand us in great stead.

“There are many globally minded Scottish industries, such as energy and construction, which are thriving and who require the expertise that a travel management company, such as Altour, can offer.

“Now that corporate travel demand has returned, we intend to pursue expansion in our Scottish markets and will be growing our existing team to support new business development.

“Since the pandemic, businesses are more purposeful when it comes to corporate travel and the services of a reputable TMC are in very high demand.

“Being able to offer options such as sustainability consultations and carbon offsetting, robust duty of care, and 24/7 traveller support is now non-negotiable.”
