Campaigner for disability and refugee rights to speak at Advantage conference

The Advantage Travel Partnership has announced campaigner Giles Duley MBE as its closing keynote speaker for its annual conference taking place in Malta (May 13-16).

He began his career as a music photographer before changing to documentary work, with photography and writing about those affected by war.

Duley is also a chef, presenter and founder/chief executive of Legacy of War Foundation, which supports communities and individuals to rebuild their lives after conflict.

While working in Afghanistan, he was severely injured by an improvised explosive device (IED). As a result of his injuries, he is a triple amputee.

He has since returned to Afghanistan to continue his work as a photographer and in his role with Legacy of War Foundation.

His work as a campaigner for the rights of refugees and those living with disability was recognised with an MBE.

Duley has collaborated with numerous global figures including Angelina Jolie, David Beckham and Ukraine’s President Zelensky.

Julia Lo Bue-Said, chief executive of the Advantage Travel Partnership, said: “Giles links the importance of managing control and overcoming fear with embracing change, a critical aspect of both travel and personal growth.

“His incredible journey and commitment to human rights make him a powerful voice, and we look forward to hearing his insights as our conference in Malta draws to a close.”
