Carnival to ‘enhance’ private island destination Half Moon Cay

Carnival Cruise Line will add a new pier and expand its beachfront on its private island next year.

The changes to the destination in the Bahamas, which was first launched in 1997 and will be renamed RelaxAway Half Moon Cay, will be made in partnership with Holland America Line.

The island will have a new pier constructed on the north side to allow ships to dock, which will mean Carnival’s Excel-class ships hat will be able to visit the island for the first time.

A new shore excursion pier will also be added on the north side of the island, plus two lunch venues and a range of island-themed bars.

The existing development on the south side of the island will receive a new beach club, a refurbished lunch venue and other renovated facilities.

A new tram service will be installed on the island, alongside expanded lounge areas and new cabanas.

Work on these enhancements will continue through 2025 to be completed by summer 2026.

“Many of our 2026 and beyond itineraries will feature both RelaxAway and Celebration Key, providing guests with complimentary experiences enjoying both idyllic and ultimate beach days.”
