Love love love. I have lived by the sea all my life, I love all its states and I couldn’t be away. Funny how landscapes can get in to your bones. That’s the human condition I guess. A moving post.

Love this so much! Milky haze!!! Corduroy!! What incredible descriptors of what you’re seeing. As someone landlocked at the moment – it’s heaven experiencing what you’re seeing. Thanks for sharing.

The ocean has a “You’re back! What shall we?!” air of perpetual partnership that makes me feel thankful to be an Earthling, however frustrating and heartbreaking that can be.

I clicked on the link to Ruth’s beauty uniform (so many great tips!) and from there to the honey washing technique on Kale & Caramel that someone in the comments mentioned and I am now down a rabbit hole of natural beauty recipes. Browsing on CoJ is like going on a road trip without a route map.

The Milky Haze painting is so dreamy!

Such a simple concept presented so tenderly. Thank you.

I adore Ruth. Thanks for this!

Love how this reaches the heart!
Thank you Ruth

Ahhh… I used to live on the California coast and I miss my beach walks. Ruth is spot on!
But I’m reminded that every walk we take, wherever we take it, holds the magic of change and new discoveries. And if we take the same route everyday and find that we’ve stopped really seeing what’s in front of us, all we have to do is follow the course in the reverse direction. (Or bring along a child, as children’s senses seem to stay awake longer than ours.)

This is so beautiful.

“Some days it’s corduroys” <3

I live in Chicago near Lake Michigan and am always in awe of how different the lake is every day! Love this reminder of how different every day of life is too and how that’s a beautiful thing (even on murky days).

I’m in Oakland and when I used to work in an office – I had a great view of Lake Merritt which would change tremendously from day to day. It was super fun to see!

I live at the Jersey shore, and like to pop down to the beach in early morning to paint quick watercolor seascapes. After two years of this practice, I’ve probably painted it 40 times? You wouldn’t believe how wildly different the sea, sky, and sand look from day to day (yes, even with our murky Jersey shore water!). I’ve hung a gallery wall of 16 of my favorites, and guests are drawn to it like a magnet. Ruth’s illustrations resonate so much

I love this, Tricia. I also find watercolour a good medium for journaling 🐬 .
I rotate my (living room) gallery wall by theme—right now it’s “hands”, so I can put up stuff that I drew or painted at different stages of my practice. It’s nice to look back and see how the skills build!

This is so moving and perfect for right now. Thank you!

That was such a fine and tender story, Ruth, thank you :) PS: I wish everyone dolphins.

Oh! I just took a deep breath. thank you!!
