Cirium: February N. American Air On-Time Performance Improves
After tanking in January, the average on-time performance in February for North American carriers recovered, according to the latest report from Cirium.
After tanking in January, the average on-time performance in February for North American carriers recovered to 80 percent compared with 71.7 percent the month prior, according to the latest report from Cirium, an aviation analytics company.
Each of the 10 carriers included in the report posted improvements. Delta Air Lines was on top again with a performance of 89.3 percent, followed by United Airlines at 84.9 percent and American Airlines at 84.4 percent. American, along with WestJet and Air Canada, improved from last month by double-digit percentage points.

Delta, United and American each also made February's global list of most on-time airlines, in second, fourth and sixth place, respectively.
North American carriers in February canceled 5,803 flights, about one-fifth of the more than 25,650 flights canceled in January.
Completion factors for February also improved compared with January, with five carriers at 99 percent or higher: American (99.8 percent), Southwest Airlines (99.7 percent), Delta (99.6 percent), Alaska Airlines (99.1 percent) and United (99 percent).
A flight is considered on time if the aircraft arrives at the gate within 15 minutes of the scheduled arrival time.
