Father and daughter operate Jet2 flight together on ‘momentous day’

A father and daughter have fulfilled their ambition of operating a flight together after taking Jet2 passengers from Stansted to Tenerife.

Captain Brian Morgan, from Colchester, teamed up with his second officer daughter Becky, who recently completed the airline’s pilot apprentice scheme.

Brian hailed a “momentous day”, adding: “It would be fantastic to recreate this memory and once again take to the sky together as not only father and daughter but colleagues.”

Brian recently completed his command upgrade to become a captain, having been a first officer with Jet2.com since 2016.

Meanwhile, Becky, who joined the pilot apprentice scheme in 2021, received her base transfer back home to Stansted after gaining her wings.

She said it had always been her dream to follow in her father’s footsteps – and his path helped to inspire her career choices.

“When my dad started his flight training, I also took an interest and have fond memories of flying in light aircraft together,” said Becky.

She added: “When discussing my options with my family, they were very supportive of me pursuing this career and gave me the confidence to believe that I could achieve anything I put my mind to.”

Brian said he was “over the moon” when his daughter confirmed she wanted to become a pilot too.

“I’ve always encouraged Becky to follow her passion when it comes to her career,” he added.

Since Becky completed her apprenticeship, she has operated more than 170 flights and taken passengers to destinations across Europe.

She and her father are both busy this summer with Jet2.com and Jet2holidays’ biggest-ever programme, featuring 15.5 million seats on sale – and the Morgans are keeping their fingers crossed they will get another chance to fly together.

Brian said: “We are hoping that our first time flying together will not be our last.”
