Actress Freya Mavor (“The Lady in the Car with Glasses and a Gun”) will explore the role sexuality plays in learning about oneself in her feature directorial debut. She is helming “Kink,” an anthology film centering on sex, intimacy, and desire. According to Screen Daily, she is also writing the project’s first segment, which will star Thalissa Teixeira (“Trigonometry”).

“The first part of the feature will shoot in the U.K. at the end of March, with further parts from different writers filming across the next 12 months. Each segment will run between 20-40 minutes, with Mavor directing and curating the entire project,” the source details. “Each segment will showcase a story navigating questions and dynamics relating to kink, and sexuality as a space of learning.”

In “Chapter 1,” Teixeira plays a grieving woman who uses kink to cope with her loss and find joy again.

Isabella Speaight and Molly Murphy of Backscatter Productions, a company dedicated to stories by and about women, are producing “Kink.” The project marks Backscatter’s first feature.

Mavor previously wrote and directed the conceptual art video series “Ataraxia.” Her on-screen credits include “Industry,” “Skins,” and most recently, the Berlinale pic “About Joan.”

“Anne Boleyn,” “Too Close,” and “Ragdoll” are among Teixeira’s more recent credits.
