Google Search has updated Canvas inside AI Mode, a workspace powered by Gemini that already lets users draft and refine documents, to now support coding projects and interactive tools.

With the latest update, you can plan, code, and build small apps directly inside Google Search without switching to separate editors or coding environments.

•New this week: Canvas in AI Mode gives you a dynamic space to organize your plans and projects over time, and now it’s available to everyone in the US!

AI Mode is Google’s conversational search experience that replaces traditional results with AI-driven responses. Canvas in AI Mode is now available to everyone in the United States in English.

Canvas appears as a side panel within AI Mode, and you can continue improving the project you are working on through follow-up prompts.

To make your own tool or dashboard, select the new Canvas option from the tool menu in AI Mode and describe what you want to create. Gemini then generates a working prototype that appears inside the Canvas panel.

For example, you can request a basic web app, a calculator, or a simple game, and the AI will produce working code that appears inside Canvas.

Once the code is generated, you can review it, edit it, and ask Gemini to improve or expand it. The system can help add new features, debug issues, or explain how parts of the code work.

Canvas continues to support writing tasks such as drafting essays, planning reports, or organizing study guides. You can highlight sections and ask Gemini to expand ideas, simplify explanations, or restructure the content.

The AI can also pull relevant information from the web and Google’s knowledge graph to help refine the work. With Canvas mode, you can also plan and book your trip using AI.

With this update, Google is turning Search into more than a place to find information. It is now a space where users can build, write, and refine projects with the help AI.

Google Play billing is changing. Here’s why your apps might get cheaper

New fees and external payments could save you money on games and subscriptions

Google Play Store

Google is shaking up Play Store payments, and your wallet might feel the difference. The company announced major changes to its billing rules and fee structure, giving developers more flexibility and keeping less of their revenue.

The thinking is pretty straightforward. When Google's cut shrinks, developers have room to trim what you pay for in-app purchases, subscriptions, and games. And with new options to use their own payment systems, some developers could bypass Google's fees entirely. Those savings might trickle down to you.

This invisible technique poisons songs so AI can’t clone them

My Music My Choice alters songs so they sound normal to fans but become unusable nonsense when fed into generative AI systems.

Adult, Male, Man

Last year, AI clones of Bad Bunny and Drake flooded streaming platforms. Listeners couldn't tell the real tracks from synthetic soundalikes. The music industry has been scrambling for answers ever since.

Researchers at Binghamton University and the startup Cauth AI think they've found one. It's called My Music My Choice, or MMMC, and it works differently from most copyright tools. Instead of catching fakes after they appear, this method lets artists poison their recordings before release. The audio reaches human ears just fine. But voice cloning models hear nothing but garbage.

If you’re into AI coding, OpenAI just puts its Codex on Windows

Codex lands on Windows with a proper native app, giving developers a new AI coding sidekick.

There’s finally some good artificial intelligence news for Windows users, and no, it’s not Microsoft forcing Copilot onto them whether they want it or not. Instead, it’s something developers might actually be excited to install.

The good news is that OpenAI has officially launched the Codex app on Windows, and this isn’t just a port. It’s a proper, native Windows experience built from the ground up with developers in mind.
