Greggs to make international debut with branch in Brit holiday favourite
High street bakery last opened an overseas store in Belgium in 2008

British holidaymakers jetting off to Tenerife will soon be able to get their Greggs fix, as the popular bakery chain is set to open its first and only international outlet at Tenerife South airport later this month.
This marks Greggs' return to overseas operations since its Belgian venture in 2008.
The company stated that Tenerife was "the ideal location to test spreading our wings in an overseas setting".
Located in the international departures area, the new shop will offer a familiar range of bakes, rolls, sweet treats, and freshly-made sandwiches.
Catering to local tastes, a Spanish Omelette Roll will feature on the breakfast menu, alongside freshly squeezed orange juice, prepared and bottled daily in-store, which Greggs believes will be "giving customers a refreshing taste of island life".
The move targets the significant British contingent among the 13 million annual passengers at Tenerife South, with approximately half travelling to and from the UK.
Greggs said the location made it the “perfect way to round off a trip without breaking the bank”.
The shop will also offer seating for up to 92 customers.
Greggs chief executive Roisin Currie said: “Tenerife South Airport is a hub for millions of UK and international passengers each year, making it the ideal location to test spreading our wings in an overseas setting.
“It’s an exciting milestone for Greggs as we bring a slice of home to the Canaries, and we’re confident our great-value offering will resonate just as well under the Spanish sun as it does on the UK high street.”
The new shop will open in partnership with Lagardere Travel Retail, which operates more than 5,000 stores in airports, railway stations and other locations in over 50 countries worldwide.
