Here’s a look inside the new Courtyard by Marriott Setia Alam hotel for business travellers

Courtyard by Marriott has debuted in the Klang Valley with the soft launch of its Setia Alam location yesterday, December 8.

Part of Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio of 30 hotel brands, Courtyard by Marriott is typically marketed as a mid-priced hotel targeting both business and leisure travellers.

The second Courtyard by Marriott property in Malaysia (with the first being in Penang), this hotel is valued at RM280 million and is owned by Tan Sri Dr. Lim Wee Chai, the executive chairman and founder of Top Glove Corporation Bhd.

As a dual-development project, this 225-room hotel shares the building with Top Residency Serviced Apartments.

Ideal for business travellers

With more than 1,265 locations in 60 countries and territories, Courtyard by Marriott is an established name in the hospitality scene.

According to a Facebook by Courtyard by Marriot Setia Alam, the brand was designed by business travellers and for business travellers, though it also welcomes leisure travellers.

This particular Courtyard by Marriott features a direct link to Setia City Mall.

In terms of its gastronomical offerings, guests can enjoy two dining venues and a bar. A casual dining option, 5 Wells is its all-day dining restaurant that offers buffets as well as a la carte menus.

During the day, the Lobby Lounge is the ideal spot for a cup of joe, but come nighttime, it also offers cocktails and wines.

For a casual, relaxed location, the Pool Bar on Level 12 is a great space. Other than drinks, it serves gastro-pub favourites.

Other standard facilities here include the fitness centre and outdoor swimming pool.

Courtyard by Marriott Setia Alam has a 1,120-square-metre pillarless Grand Ballroom and several flexible function spaces, making it suitable for meetings, business conferences, and social gatherings.

Beyond that, the Setia Alam hotel also appears to feature an organic regulated indoor farm, based on Marriott’s website. The press release included images of a sauna too.

Here are the available rooms:

The approximate prices for the rooms seem to be around RM300 to RM350 per night as of now (note that prices will vary depending on the dates).

“The opening of this new and exciting property further underscores our commitment to expand our footprint in the country with more diverse offerings,” said Rivero Delgado, Area Vice President – Malaysia, Marriott International, in a press release.

According to The Edge, Marriott International has already confirmed 26 management contracts for hotel openings in Malaysia through 2030.

See you at the Top Residency

Occupying six floors of the building from Level 24 to 29 is 69 units inclusive of four Penthouses by Top Residency.  

The units range from 551 square-feet to 2,740 square-feet. There’s also a rooftop pool available for residents.

The Top Residency Serviced Apartments is by Top Properties, which in turn is owned by Tan Sri Dr. Lim Wee Chai. Its other properties include ICON Tower, Empire Subang, St. Regis Residence, among others.
