Around eight years ago, Scott T. developed lower back pain. Since he sits at a desk for work and enjoys walking in his local city park, this lower back pain started to worry Scott. And so, he did what most men in a similar situation would do: He scheduled several visits with doctors, chiropractors, and physical therapists.
After one of these sessions, he decided to get an MRI to figure out what was going on in his lower back. The MRI revealed Scott had a spinal stenosis—where the spaces inside the spinal bones get too small and cause discomfort and pain—in his L3, L4, and L5 vertebrae.
While Scott had a mild case that didn’t require surgery, it still caused all sorts of pain and discomfort. Sitting in front of a computer for his job only further aggravated his spinal stenosis. And it was beginning to scare him because he could only walk (one of his favorite activities) for 30 minutes at a time before needing to sit down for a while until his back calmed down.
After getting his spinal stenosis diagnosis, Scott started going to a physical therapist once a week. His physical therapist was an immense help because movement was the only thing that made his back feel better.
But then, covid shut down the world.
Suddenly, Scott was unable to go to work, go to the gym, or see his physical therapist. He even felt guilty walking in his local park—but his body desperately needed movement to keep his lower back pain at bay.
That’s when he first discovered Man Flow Yoga…
How Man Flow Yoga Helped More Than Scott’s Physical Therapist
“What I’ve found is with Man Flow Yoga is I don’t have to go to the physical therapist every week.”
— Scott T.
During the pandemic, as Scott went through the Bulletproof Your Back program, Scott made a realization that shocked him at the time:
His physical therapist and Dean said the same exact things!
Man Flow Yoga saved Scott’s lower back when he couldn’t see his physical therapist. And by the time the world reopened, Scott realized he didn’t have to go to his physical therapist once a week anymore. He could get a similar workout at his house and at his convenience by flicking on a Man Flow Yoga workout!
In fact, Scott came to appreciate Man Flow Yoga even more than his physical therapist. Not only does Man Flow Yoga offer more variety in the types of workouts and areas of focus, but the various workout lengths in the Members’ Area meant that Scott could always squeeze in a workout—no matter where he was or how busy he was on any given day.
But above all?
Scott rarely feels his lower back pain since he started doing Man Flow Yoga workouts more consistently. I’ll let Scott speak for himself:
“The long and short of all this is I no longer hurt every day like I did for a while there. In fact, most days I don’t hurt at all and I was having problems walking for more than 30 minutes, I’d have to sit down for a while—and that’s not the case anymore.”
Other Things Scott Loves About Man Flow Yoga
While Scott’s spinal stenosis was his #1 concern and he loves the fact that he doesn’t have to see a physical therapist weekly anymore, it’s far from the only thing he’s come to appreciate about Man Flow Yoga.
First is Dean’s teaching style and clear instructions, something that gets mentioned in nearly every Member Highlight article.
Second is the convenience of the Members’ Area website and app. Scott can do a yoga workout anywhere, which keeps his back from acting up.
Third is how non-judgmental the Man Flow Yoga workouts are and the Man Flow Yoga Community Facebook Group is.
Scott isn’t a natural athlete, and enjoys how each video and Facebook post in the group is supportive and encouraging—a complete reversal from the competitive nature of being in a gym or fitness class setting. Plus, the Facebook group always gives Scott a dose of positivity in a medium controlled by negativity.
