Jet2 marks five years of flights out of Birmingham and Stansted
Travel agents thanked for their support and cake and flight vouchers given to departing passengers
Jet2.com and Jet2holidays has marked five years of flying out of Birmingham and Stansted and thanked the trade for its support.
The airline and tour operator laid out the red carpet and a balloon arch at both airports, with holidaymakers given a number-five-shaped cake to celebrate the anniversary before departing to their destinations. Five groups of customers were given a free pair of Jet2.com flight vouchers at each of the bases.
Jet2.com and Jet2holidays chief executive Steve Heapy also thanked travel agents for their help in growing sales over the last five years.
He said: “We are delighted to be celebrating five years of operating flights and holidays from Birmingham and London Stansted airports and to be marking this important milestone with both customers and colleagues.
“Since we first launched from these bases, we have grown considerably and this is all down to the support and loyalty from holidaymakers and independent travel agents, as well as our fantastic colleagues.
“We would like to take this opportunity to offer our thanks to everyone who has contributed to our success at Birmingham and London Stansted airports over the last five years.”
In addition, the company celebrated the anniversary with colleagues who have worked for the company since the flights and holidays launched five years ago out of the two bases.
The company has enjoyed substantial growth out of both airports, and now offers 60 destinations from Birmingham, up from 15 five years ago, and 48 from Stansted, up from 21.
More than five million passengers have travelled on a flight with Jet2.com or on a package with Jet2holidays from each base.
