Jet.com cabin crew member gets engaged at wings ceremony

A Jet.com cabin crew member said two of her dreams came true at once after she was proposed to at her wings ceremony.

Louise Conlon attended the ceremony after completing four weeks of intensive training including in-flight assessments, customer service and safety training, before securing permanent employment with the airline.

Much to her surprise, her boyfriend of one year, Luke Denson, took the opportunity to get down and one knee and ask her to marry him.

Denson said Conlon had hinted she would like to get engaged at her wings ceremony so, when he knew it was coming up, he began planning the proposal.

“I let my future in-laws in on the secret, giving them a look at the ring and updating them on my plans to propose at the ceremony,” said Denson, who works as a coach driver.

“I contacted Louise’s colleagues ahead of her ceremony to get them onboard with my plan too, and it was agreed that when everyone had been presented with their wings, they would call Louise back up and I would drop down on one knee.

“It all went smoothly on the day, and as soon as I had popped the question and Louise had said yes, everyone burst out cheering – it was an amazing moment.

“It’s funny looking back, as I can’t believe Louise didn’t have a clue it was going to happen given all the hints she dropped!”

The Birmingham-based couple plan to get married in the next few years, preferably at a manor house.

Conlon said: “It really was the best day of my life and one that I will never forget.

“From a young age, I have always wanted to work in the aviation industry, so my wings ceremony was already going to be a day I’d never forget. It’s now also the day I got engaged to my soulmate.

“All my family were there to watch me graduate, which means they were also there to witness Luke proposing. It was so incredibly thoughtful of Luke to plan it, as it was two of my dreams coming true at once.”
