New jobs created at Leeds Bradford airport with commercial team shake-up

Leeds Bradford airport (LBA) is recruiting for new positions after appointing Nicola McMullen as new aviation director as part of a wider commercial team shake-up.

She joins the West Yorkshire airport after nine years at Manchester Airport Group, holding roles in strategy, aviation development and as commercial director.

Former commercial director John Cunliffe becomes commercial and strategy director, leading the overall commercial and customer offering. This includes the food, drink and retail outlets, car parking and business partner relationships, as well as supporting a broader strategy for the business.

More recently, he looked after both the aviation and commercial aspects of the business on an interim basis.

The airport is seeking to fill six new positions across retail, revenue, customer service, e-commerce and marketing as part of the reorganisation.

McMullen has been charged with facilitating future growth at Leeds Bradford, leading the development of new routes to destinations across Europe and beyond.

She said: “I am pleased to play a part in the growth of LBA as a crucial hub for connecting the world to the north of England and the economic benefit that brings across Yorkshire.

“This is an exciting opportunity and I’m looking forward to moving ahead with developing sustainable growth and an exciting future travel proposition for passengers, following what was a difficult period for the whole aviation industry.”

Airport chief executive Vincent Hodder added: “LBA has been significantly impacted by the pandemic and as we start to see early shoots of recovery in the travel industry, now is the time to invest in the right team to make LBA a truly outstanding regional airport for the future.

“I’m delighted to welcome Nicola to the organisation and continue to work with John in a new capacity and I’m confident that their blend of skills and experience will enable us to deliver excellent passenger service, choice and new destinations for the future.”
