Norse Atlantic Airways plans pilot cadet programme

A cadet scheme has been created to prepare students for a future career at new long-haul airline Norse Atlantic Airways. 

The start-up is to work with pilot training firm OSM Aviation Academy, which has locations in Norway, Sweden and the US.

The airline’s chief executive and major shareholder Bjorn Tore Larsen owns 73.5% of OSM Aviation Academy through his company BTLCO.

Norse is poised to start transatlantic flights by the summer with a fleet of 15 Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

The cadet programme will start in collaboration with OSM Aviation Academy once the airline is fully operational. 

The carrier’s chief culture officer Kristin Berthelsen said: “Initiating a career path and mentorship programme for our pilots as early as their initial stages of education and training aligns with our values of inclusive, ownership and kindness.

“We believe that taking ownership and including our future colleagues at an early stage will be a key effort in securing the talent of tomorrow.”

OSM managing director Hans Kyrre Hultgren added: “We are thrilled to launch this collaboration with Norse Atlantic Airways, a company that represents innovation and will create many new jobs in the aviation industry.
