It’s official: Nvidia has just announced three new GPUs, and some of them will be competing against the best graphics cards in the mainstream segment. There are also new laptops coming right up. Nvidia’s announcement tells us what to expect from the new additions to the RTX 50-series lineup.
Team Green is keeping the pricing the same for its (historically) most popular GPU, the RTX 5060. Starting at $299, the card has the same recommended list price (MSRP) as the RTX 4060. No surprise there, really, and it’s mostly a question of whether it’ll actually be readily available at MSRP — most RTX 50-series models are decidedly not.
The surprise comes in the form of the RTX 5060 Ti in both its iterations, as Nvidia is actually giving these GPUs a price cut when compared to their previous-gen siblings. The 16GB card will launch at $429, and the 8GB card at $379; both are cheaper than the $499 and $399 we had to pay for the RTX 4060 Ti 16GB and the RTX 4060 Ti 8GB, respectively.
The RTX 5060 Ti comes with either 16GB or 8GB of GDDR7 clocked at 28Gbps RAM, in both cases accompanied by a 128-bit bus, resulting in 448GB/s of memory bandwidth. The cards are also sharing the same total graphics power (TGP) of 180 watts. They both come with 4,608 CUDA cores and a boost clock of 2,572MHz.
Jacob Roach / Digital TrendsThe RTX 5060 scales back on the number of cores, down to 3,840, and offers 8GB of VRAM across a 128-bit bus (which means the same bandwidth). This card will have a 145W TGP, which would be a sizeable increase from last gen’s RTX 4060.
All three of the cards were announced today, with availability starting tomorrow (April 16) for the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB. The 8GB version is said to follow “shortly after,” and the RTX 5060 will hit the shelves in May.
Nvidia has also announced new RTX 5060-powered laptops. Prices are starting at $1,099, which is not that much cheaper than the RTX 5070 laptops were meant to start at. The reality is quite different and many models cost more than the MSRP. Acer, Asus, Dell, Gigabyte, HP, Lenovo, MSI, and Razer will all produce some laptops with these new mainstream GPUs.

It may be the day after April Fool's Day, but this is no joke. The coveted Nvidia RTX 5070 is currently available at the major retailer, Best Buy, at its regularly suggested price of $550.
There have already been reports of increased availability of the RTX 50-series graphics cards, such as news of exclusive offerings for Amazon Prime members. However, this sighting is a lucky opportunity for those who don’t want to spend in excess for a graphic component. All of Nvidia’s GPUs have been subject to reseller and scalper inflation, but its cheapest option becoming too costly can be exhausting. Retailers attempted to push the price of the mid-range RTX 5070 Ti up to $1,000 in March before complaints forced them to bring the price down to a more reasonable level.
Amazon has AMD and Nvidia GPU stock for you, but you’ll need Prime
Amazon appears to be taking measures to combat GPU scalping by reserving some stock of Nvidia’s RTX 5000 and AMD’s Radeon 9000 series graphics cards for its Prime subscribers. According to a report by Club386, select high-end GPUs are now available exclusively to Prime members, potentially limiting the impact of scalpers and resellers. Notably, Amazon has not explicitly announced this as an anti-scalping tactic, leaving room for speculation about its true intentions.
Several Nvidia RTX 5000 series GPUs, from the RTX 5080 to the RTX 5070, are listed as "reserved for Prime members" on Amazon, preventing non-members from purchasing them. The flagship RTX 5090 is notably exempt, likely due to its high price, while the RTX 40 series remains unaffected, possibly because of limited remaining stock.

Nvidia makes some of the best graphics cards to be found in laptops, but some of these GPUs might be closer in terms of performance than you'd expect. The laptop version of the RTX 5080 has been benchmarked, and it's shockingly close to the RTX 5090. Are the laptops equipped with the RTX 5090 still worth buying?
Notebookcheck was able to compare the RTX 5090 and the RTX 5080 laptop GPUs under ideal circumstances: In two iterations of the same laptop. The cards were both paired with AMD's Ryzen 9 9955HX CPU, which removes a lot of the usual benchmarking discrepancy you'd run into in laptops. When both are installed in similar systems, we can get a good feel of how each card performs without external factors, and that is the case in these benchmarks.
