Plum Village in the past week

The sangha life is very vivid with many activities that the monastic or lay friends enjoy. During the past week, there was a Siksamana precept transmission, a new staircase built by monastic brothers and an online mindfulness day for families of the monks and nuns. We would like to share with you some nice photos of these events.

Siksamana Transmission Ceremony

In Buddhist tradition, the Siksamana precepts are for a nun to practice and train themselves as a monastic. Recently, after two years of their ordination, three sisters were very happy to receive these precepts and congratulation from the sangha.

With body, speech and mind in oneness…Willingness to receive the precepts in order to practice and go deeper on this path.Every time she looks at the certificate for her siksamana precepts, she can remind herself to practice diligently.Happiness of our sisters with their transmission preceptor and the certificate. We are so lucky to live and have the support on this spiritual path from the sisters.

New staircase in Upper Hamlet

Thich Nhat Hanh, our teacher said that Plum Village likes a general university that you can learn many things from. It’s the truth that the monastic brothers can learn and do many things by themselves even things that they have never done it before. In this week, some brothers in Upper Hamlet built a staircase by themselves lead to the forest so that people can enjoy walking more easily. We hope you can recognize this path if you have visited us before, or you will see it soon. Let’s us enjoy some nice photo of these moments.

Very creative in doing thing with whatever they have.Doing and also learning from the elders. The staircase was formed.

Online Mindfulness Day for Monastic’s family

Due to the limitations of this time, the monks and nuns and their families cannot visit each other as usual so we organized a day of mindfulness for the family of monastics. There was a Dharma talk to share about monastic life so that the families can understand more about their relative. We also had a nice be-in session that the monastic and relatives can meet and share to each other. The monastic feel the support from their family on this path so we hope we can have more time like this to understand and also to practice together with our loved ones.

Hello papa, mama,…Happiness to see our parents from far away.Translation to Chinese for their family.Such a great joy to be together because we didn’t see our relative for a long time.Br. Thien Chi is very happy to have his mom here.An aspirant shared with his family.Hope to see papa, mama soon!
