Riviera’s Stuart Milan takes on new US role

Riviera Travel has signalled plans to raise sales from North America with a senior leadership team shake-up.

The river cruise and touring specialist’s international sales vice president and trading director Stuart Milan has been named the company’s president of North America, dividing his time equally between the UK and the US.

Former Norwegian Cruise Line international sales chief Francis Riley joins as senior vice president of trade sales and relations in North America.

The reorganisation also sees North American sales and and marketing vie president Marilyn Conroy appointed to a new role as executive vice president of business development.

Milan’s primary focus will be on spearheading operational growth in the US market, while also being a key figure for the brand in the UK, according to the operator.

“He will work closely with the UK and US-based teams to execute plans for market expansion, strengthen partnerships, and continue delivering the premium travel experiences that have made Riviera Travel a preferred upscale river cruise choice in Europe,” the company added.

“The strategic reorganisation of Riviera’s North American senior leadership team is symbolic of the company’s plan for accelerated growth and will bolster Riviera Travel’s US footprint, ultimately driving its brand presence, solidifying relationships and driving sales.”

The US growth plans include the opening of its new office in Fort Lauderdale and the addition of experienced sales staff Dana Horton, Andy Stewart, and Clark Reber.

Further expansion is anticipated in the coming months, with roles being added in Riviera’s new US office.

Chief executive Phil Hullah said: “North America represents a significant opportunity for expansion and with this team at the helm, I am confident Riviera Travel will be able to continue delivering extraordinary travel experiences while growing our market share.

“Stuart has been instrumental in driving our growth in the UK. Moving forward in his expanded role, he will be able to leverage his deep understanding of the Riviera brand and translate the outstanding work he is doing in the UK into success in the US market, as we collectively push to strengthen Riviera’s presence in this key region.”

Milan said: “It is an honour to work alongside such a terrific team, particularly as Riviera focuses on expanding our brand footprint across the US, which presents an exciting opportunity for us all.

“I look forward to deepening my knowledge of the US market even further and learning from our valued partners here, in order to ensure Riviera Travel is the brand of choice for luxury European river cruising.”
