Saga Travel Group attributes January sales hike to ‘savvy’ clients

Saga Travel Group is attributing a 85% hike in January 2024 bookings to savvy clients travelling at a traditionally quiet time of year.

The group, which operates trade brand Titan Travel, says the increase in sales compared to January this year has been across its portfolio.

Destinations being booked for January include Costa Rica, South Africa (pictured) and Japan for long haul travel and Cyprus and the Canary Islands for short haul trips.

Chief executive John Constable said: “January is traditionally a quieter period for travel, but this year we’re witnessing a new trend and have seen an 85% uplift in overseas bookings to escape the UK’s most miserable month.

“Savvy travellers are cottoning on to January as the perfect month to travel – it gives them something to look forward to after Christmas, it helps avoid the cold and dark and, by the time they’re home, they’re a step closer to spring.”

Constable said travellers “in the know” had worked out that the operator has competitively priced deals available in January with added extras such as transfers included, making it a “brilliant time to travel”.
