Silversea roles made redundant amid global sales restructure
Creation of central team leads to job losses in markets including UK
Silversea has restructured its trade reservation team, leading to redundancies in source markets including in the UK.
The line said “fewer than 100” staff members had been made redundant worldwide, but declined to confirm how many roles in its UK team were affected.
Travel Weekly understands the move has affected the UK trade reservations team, with up to 15 roles made redundant.
A spokesperson for the line said: “We have designed and implemented a global service model offering enhanced and more personalised service to our trade partners and guests. We are committed to supporting any impacted employees during this time and providing them with assistance.
“We will continue to drive growth with our travel advisory partners and support them in the most efficient and effective way possible.
“One of the ways to achieve this result is by creating a global trade reservation team leveraging our global footprint and capabilities.”
Travel Weekly understands the strategy will focus on a centralised trade reservations call centre in Manila which will field calls from around the world.
Jasmin Day, who has worked as a cruise consultant for UK trade sales at Silversea for the last 16 months, posted on Linkedin to confirm her role had been made redundant, with her final day scheduled for June 28.
